From the time I explained our story that Danny my adopted grandson lost his dad which was my son, the entire Great Southern staff wanted Danny to harvest his first deer. Hunter our guide worked so hard for us that I truly believe he wanted it as bad as we did. Our first harvest together will never ever be forgotten the only thing missing was his dad to enjoy the experience. I know he was smiling on us both. Great Southern Outdoors could not have done anything better to make us feel more at home and part of their family. Thank you Rex,Hunter,Ginger,Linda, and the rest of the great staff at GSO. Great time staff awsome rooms clean food great open bar plenty snacks thanks to Tony our guide Rex really tried to see my granddaughter get her first buck she fell in love with Jackson the tracking dog stands in need of some tlc and need to get rid of the steel fold up chairs hard on the backside we hunted hard 7 hunts only seen deer twice in the plots but did see other deer crossing roads and fields they hunt the woods a lot not the green fields would like to see more of that but overall great time and thanks Rex for being so great with my granddaughter will see yall again tommy and bella "froot loops" Bowen
My husband and I went on the couples hog hunt this weekend. We can't say enough good things about this place. Rex and Hunter are absolutely awesome! They make you feel right at home. The food was the best, every meal! The plantation is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately, my husband and I didn't kill a pig but other hunters did kill some while we were there. Leaving there was like leaving family, we didn't want to go! We will definitely be back! Thanks again Rex, Hunter, Jack, and all the cooks!!
We look forward to going back to GSO each year. We are fortunate to be able to carefully select places we will visit for hunting outside of our home state yet always go back to Alabama for Great Southern Outdoors. Hunter, Rex and Ginger set this outfit apart from the rest. The lodging, food, and views are beyond all expectations. Regardless of how long you stay, you will leave feeling like part of the Great Southern Outdoors family. We just returned and are already looking forward to next year!
Great experience! Hunter was my guide and worked hard to ensure I had a positive experience. GSO offers free chase hunting. My deer hunting stands and blinds were placed in spectacular locations. I felt game could pop out any time of day. The plantation has an abundance of deer, hogs, turkey, coyotes and bobcat. My hunt was opening weekend of rifle season. Temperatures were warm and the wind blowing. Even in this type of weather Hunter worked hard to place me in an area with high probably of seeing a trophy buck. Welk, his efforts paid off. I harvested large doe and 8 point trophy buck! The lodge is comfortable and the southern cooking spectacular. I fully recommend GSO to anyone wanting a fair chase hunt for deer and hogs. I'll be back soon.
